Cid's journey towards becoming a recycling pioneer began over five years ago when he noticed a gap in his community's recycling efforts. Frustrated by the limited options for recycling hard-to-recycle items such as coffee pods, bottle lids, and toothbrushes, Cid took matters into his own hands. Drawing upon his ingenuity and determination, he established a community recycling hub where people could drop off these challenging items for proper recycling.
The impact of Cid's initiative was immediate and profound. Hundreds of kilos of waste that would have otherwise ended up in landfills or incinerators were diverted and recycled. Cid's community recycling hub became a beacon of sustainability, inspiring others to take action and join the fight against waste pollution.
However, Cid's passion for recycling didn't stop there. At the start of 2023, he embarked on his most ambitious venture yet: The TOTI (The Tip of the Iceberg). The name, chosen with careful consideration, symbolises the waste crisis facing our planet, with plastic pollution likened to the tip of an iceberg – visible on the surface but concealing a much larger problem beneath. The TOTI's mission is clear: to delve beneath the surface and tackle the root of the plastic waste epidemic.
Operating as a micro recycling business, The TOTI represents a new frontier in sustainable waste management. By harnessing cutting-edge recycling technologies and innovative processes, Cid aims to revolutionise the way we approach recycling on a local level. From transforming plastic waste into raw materials for manufacturing to repurposing discarded items into innovative new products, The TOTI is paving the way towards a circular economy where waste is minimised, and resources are maximised.
But Cid's vision extends beyond mere business success; it's rooted in a deep-seated desire to leave a lasting impact on the planet and future generations.
